There is a reason for the existence of the appendix!
There is a reason for the existence of the appendix!
I was reading the newspaper this morning and I thought "I see!!"
It was the article with the above title that made me think this.
Until now, appendicitis has been a mysterious condition, with people saying, "We don't know why it exists."
However, there is no such thing as a wasted part of the human body, so there must be some reason.
I was vaguely wondering if there was one.
However, it seems that the exact reason for its existence has never been known until now.
As published online in Nature Communications
"It supplies immune cells to the intestines and maintains the balance of intestinal bacteria."
"We have also confirmed that immune cells produced in the appendix migrate to the large intestine and small intestine.
"We found that the appendix helps maintain a balance of gut bacteria."
That's right. Recently, it has been said that intestinal bacteria not only control health, but also affect the brain (way of thinking).
It has been attracting a lot of attention as a factor that affects the balance of intestinal bacteria.
If we are still able to preserve the heart muscle, then we know that it is not an unnecessary organ, but rather an extremely important one.
When I went to Germany recently, I learned that "in order to protect the forests, we need to leave dead trees behind."
I heard this valuable story.
If we don't leave dead trees, the woodpeckers can't survive, and without them
The population of all other insects will also decrease, resulting in a major loss of biodiversity.
Even a single dead tree can have a huge reason for its existence.
Although they are often eliminated because it is thought that it would be better if they did not exist, they actually play an important role.
I realized that we have a lot in common in that respect.
This may come as a shock to those who have already had appendicitis and had their appendix removed, but
That was a very informative and interesting article.
