I thought that one of the few benefits of most economic activity being halted is a temporary reduction in CO2 emissions. I thought it would be nice if we could reduce the amount of CO2 emissions generated by the recent fires in Australia. When I looked into it, I found that the amount of CO9 emitted by those bushfires was about half of Australia's annual emissions (XNUMX million tons).

Global CO2016 emissions in 2 were 323 billion tons, so that fire alone is likely to have increased global annual emissions by about 3%.
I think the current self-restraint on economic activity has been continuing worldwide for about a month. If we assume that the reduction effect of the current self-restraint is -1% compared to normal times (30%) 70/1 x 12 = 0.7%, and by sheer coincidence, it feels like the CO3.3 emissions from the Australian wildfires have been eliminated just for this month. If self-restraint continues for a long time, it looks like the reduction effect will prevail for this fiscal year only. I believe that the current coronavirus shock is one of the biggest events outside of war, but I believe that we must use it as an opportunity for the entire world to recognize again that the negative effects of global warming are said to far exceed this.
