How to develop a heating and cooling system at a very low cost and without failure
Recently, there has been a huge increase in construction companies that are copying others and installing underfloor air conditioners.
And there are quite a few people who say that it doesn't work. Underfloor air conditioners are a very simple system compared to attic air conditioners, but there seem to be many people who still fail to use them.
The reasons for failure are the same.
The building's insulation performance is insufficient
- Not calculating the required air conditioner capacity
-Failure to plan ventilation for the underfloor foundation
- Installation location is incorrect
- Installation failure
・Operation method not explained to the client
(The designers themselves don't even know how to use it.)
While doing this might work in some cases, it's no different than rolling the dice.
It's fine to have the spirit to try out a new heating and cooling method yourself, but if you go to a major manufacturer or a manufacturer of heating and cooling equipment, they will carry out a huge amount of calculations and measurements through experiments before commercializing the product. Of course, they have a higher level of knowledge.
When someone with a lower level of knowledge and financial resources than them sets up a system, there is a proper way of doing it.
The first thing you should do is
Calculating the heat balance
In winter, calculate the heat that goes out, the heat that is gained from solar radiation, and the internal heat generation, and then calculate the capacity from that. This is obvious, but there is no way that even 1% of people who actually do this. It's almost certain that it's less than XNUMX%.
Don't do anything that goes against physics
For example, warm air rises. Cold air sinks. People prefer a cool head and warm feet... If you understand these things and set up a system that goes against these basic principles, the chances of it not working well increase significantly.
・Recently, more and more people are adopting methods to circulate air using counter-arrow fans. It is a good idea to ask such people, "How much heat can be transported by installing that fan?" Most people don't even calculate it. When circulating air, if you know the temperature difference and how many cubic meters of air are moved, you can easily calculate the amount of heat.
・After taking all of the above into consideration, allow for some margin.
However, things can still go wrong. In that case, we have a plan B prepared. For example, we install an outlet so that individual air conditioners can be used. If we fail, we will execute the plan B that is sure to work, and of course we will bear the additional costs ourselves.
By repeating this process, our small company of about 10 people has developed various methods. Even if you calculate and follow the physics, there will always be some things that don't work when you actually try them. It is important to check for them, but only very advanced people follow these steps, and most practitioners just roll the dice and the client bears the burden of failure...or, if the company is a little more conscientious, they will bear a fairly large additional cost.
