Electric Vehicles vs. Fuel Cell Vehicles

Yesterday I introduced an article on the Leaf vs Mirai competition. It wasn't a good comparison at all, so I was looking for data that could be used to compare the energy used to produce hydrogen, and I found this.

The source of this information is the Japan Automobile Research Institute, a foundation, so it is likely to be fairly fair.
These results do not seem to show that electric vehicles are twice as superior as in yesterday's link, but at a time when both electricity and hydrogen are produced from fossil fuels, the results show that fuel cell vehicles emit approximately 1.4 times as much CO2.
Furthermore, in the future, if hydrogen is electrolyzed using electricity generated by solar power and electric vehicles are also powered by solar power, the results show that electric vehicles will be 1.4 times more advantageous than 14 times.
And electric cars are far cheaper at the moment.

In this table, the CO2 emissions of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles are exactly the same. Given this, plug-in hybrids, which have long driving distances and are relatively affordable, are undoubtedly the best choice at this point in time. Moreover, this table appears to have been created several years ago, so it does not appear to have taken into account the outstanding fuel economy of the next-generation Prius plug-in hybrid. Personally, I think that if the next-generation model were included in this table, it would exceed the CO2 emissions of electric vehicles (as it is unlikely that fuel economy will improve rapidly in the case of electric vehicles).
As I have written several times before, if the last 20 years have been the years of the spread of hybrids, I believe that the next 20 years or so will be the era of plug-in hybrids.
