Congratulations!! All 10 members are now architects!
Yesterday, I had a handover of the U residence in Asagiri in the morning, and an advisory meeting with a certain company in the afternoon.
That night, for the first time, we had dinner at the Ritz-Carlton in Osaka.
I've been to many luxury hotels, but this is by far the best in the Kansai region.
I was surprised at how much money was spent.
Moreover, there were a lot of Chinese people... I was working in the lobby while waiting for my appointment.
At one point, everyone there was Chinese except for me.
I realized that Japanese people were like that overseas during the Bubble Era.
Today, I met up with all my co-workers for the first time in a while and received some good news.
Our employee Yamaguchi was the last to pass the second-class architect exam!
It's not that my grades are bad, I graduated from a British university with a degree in architecture.
It took a long time to meet the requirements to qualify for the architect's exam.
Now, all 2 employees, including two part-time workers, are qualified architects!
We don't have any salespeople or office staff. My wife does the accounting.
I really only do design and supervision (although I also give lectures...)
I believe Matsuo Design Office is the only design firm in Japan with this corporate structure.
The breakdown is three first-class architects and seven second-class architects.
Just because it is second-class does not mean that the quality is inferior.
We can design second-class buildings up to 500㎡ (approximately 150 tsubo), which is what we have been doing for the past 10 years.
Almost all properties can be covered by second-class insurance.
To tell the truth, my wife is also a first-class architect, so if we include her, the total number of people is 11.
Since they are accounting specialists and are not involved in drawings, we have deliberately chosen 10 people.
There are many talented people who can do the job without being qualified as an architect.
On the other hand, there are some first-class architects who are as hopeless as paper drivers.
However, apart from the first-class qualification, if you are going to do residential design work, you will need a second-class architect license.
There is no denying that it is a good idea to have a basic understanding of this.
Planning, environment, regulations, structure, construction...
All of these can only be applied based on the basics.
The first grader asks, "Why do I have to memorize so much?"
This is the type of exam, but for the second level, you can pass it if you just memorize common sense.
Either way, it was a very happy story.
By the way, two other students also came very close to passing the first-class architect written exam this year.
Perhaps the next goal will be to have 50% first-class architects?
